Paradox 3D

If you can dream it, you can achieve it

Hi there and welcome to Paradox 3D.

I’m Matt, or if you’ve come from Youtube then you probably know me as my handle there, Sikosh. This is my first time blogging so this whole process is a bit of a learning curve for me.

So what’s this blog about? On a very high level it’s about CGI, my animations (the “Dark Rage” series that most of my YouTube visitors will have seen and beyond), models, artwork and techniques and building out my portfolio. To look at the bigger picture it’s about achieving my goals, trying to realise my dreams and staying focused on all of the above. Pretty grandiose stuff for a first blog post, but start as you mean to go on, right?

A year ago I set myself a goal to heavily focus on my CGI work and portfolio and have something to show for it at the end of that 12 months. That year has passed, and I’ve nothing solid to show for it except a few YouTube clips, the last of which was posted 4 months ago. I don’t want to be in the same position a year from now. So it’s time to make a change.

What is it inside each of us that makes us stray from our goals? We say we want something – more money, to lose weight, find a new job, etc. and we begin making progress. But then something inside us makes us choose something that will push us a little further away from achieving that goal…and over time we begin to compromise, again and again until the goal seems less important than when we started. It’s like having the cartoon devil on your shoulder except this version isn’t funny. It’s just stupid, because time ticks away and we’re just as far from our goals as we were a week ago, a month ago or a year ago.

I’m hoping that maintaing this blog will allow me to keep everyone a little more updated than I have been previously as well as provide a better forum for feedback. So instead of one goal I now have several. Over the next 12 months / 52 weeks / 365 days (delete as applicable) I’m aiming to:

  • Expand my CGI skillset
  • Share regular updates regarding animations, models, artwork, works in progress and workflow techniques. The key here being regular
  • Obtain feedback regarding the above
  • Establish a graphics portfolio for myself by the end

I’ll try to update this once a week and see how this goes. I’ll keep you posted :) In the meantime you can check out my previous YouTube works while I begin working on some other content for this bad boy.

Feel free to contact me (matt@paradox3d.com) with any comments or suggestions, or post a comment below.

Peace out.

Well done Matt. I really like the Vorlon cruiser, looks like the ones in b5

That is an awesome video! I’m a big B5 fan and you really got it. I love the new jump points and the realistic explosions. Very nice. Can’t wait to see the rest of it.

By the way. What’s the music? I’ve heard it before and really like it.

    Hi Anna,

Thanks for the compliment, I appreciate the feedback!

Regarding the music, are you referring to Dark Rage 1 or the Dark Rage 2 video that is in progress?

Dark Rage 1 uses the track “Devoe’s Revenge” from The Peacemaker soundtrack. The Dark Rage 2 video uses “Seranata” by Immediate Music.

    Regards,
    Matthew
